Just when you thought the build up to the new season
could not get any more exciting; Eddie Mitchell and friends pull off a pre
season friendly with Real Madrid.
So it took a while to get over the initial shock that
Elphick, Cooke and Arter were going to line up against the likes of Ozil, Kaka
and Ronaldo.
It is fair to say that the reaction to the pricing has
been mixed; I can understand that £55-£60 is a lot to find anytime let alone at
short notice.
We assume that a team like Madrid, who according to Eddie
Mitchell are bringing the first team, will cost quite a lot in appearance fees
and we must presume the ticket pricing is a reflection of this.
As for getting the AFC Bournemouth brand out into the
football world I think this announcement has had the desired effect. Within hours afcb was trending on Twitter and
the announcement was being reported worldwide.
I even listened to Eddie Mitchell, on national radio this
morning whilst eating my cornflakes.
Personally I am looking at this match as a one off and I definitely
want to be at Dean Court the day Cristano Ronaldo and his team mates visit the
south coast, even if it does cost me £55.
I am hoping that the next bombshell to be dropped will be
the announcement of a new striker, Charlie Austin anyone? Well, why not? Stranger
things have happened in the past 24 hours.
Good luck to the boys, who start their pre season matches
against FC Zurich this Friday.
