What started as a relatively slow pre-season, kicked in to
life last week with the shock announcement that footballing giants Real Madrid
would be visiting Dean Court.
We have had the discussion about high ticket prices, which did
not deter the majority of afcb fans. The game also attracted a lot of fans from
the wider football family with people queuing for general sale tickets from the
early hours of Thursday morning. (I have been told that there were a lot people
wearing different club shirts in the queue.)
All in all I hope the fixture does have a positive effect
putting AFC Bournemouth, on the footballing map and if we can gain a few more
regular fans then that can only be a good thing moving forward.
The talk of Ronaldo, Ozil and company has taken away the
focus from the team and the transfer window but it has been a busy news week
for the club.
The Simeon Jackson saga ended with the Canadian striker
signing for Bundesliga new boys Eintracht Braunschweig, which
was a little disappointing since some media outlets had reported we had signed
him.
Frank Demouge as expected departed and joined
Roda JC Kerkrade and Eddie made his third free signing in the way of
little known Senegalese winger/striker Mohamed Coulibaly.
There is definitely still time to add one or two more and another
striker could still be on the cards, I heard that Charlie Austin is still available.
Unfortunately Josh McQuoid has been ruled out for the start
of the season after undergoing surgery on his knee.
Tomorrow is the first home friendly with West Ham visiting
Dean Court for Stephen Purchase’s testimonial match.
The premier league outfit are bringing a strong squad to the
Goldsands on what should be a brilliant occasion.
Good luck to Purch who has been a fantastic servant to the
club.
